Tamizh and Kumaran leave out Aravind, as they feel due to his better looks, he might hinder their attempts at the girls. There he meets Hema, who is an Anglo-Indian and architect student and likes her.
One day, Tamizh's mother tells him to go to the temple for a pooja (blessing ceremony). He comes home for the night after he gets drunk, and flashback starts.ĥ years earlier, college student Tamizh, Kumaran, and Tamizh's cousin Aravind were inseparable friends.
Desperate, Tamizh gets a job at a roadside biriyani shop. All the companies are pleased with his resume but are hesitant to give him a job due to occurrences in his past job. Tamizh leaves them with his friend Kumaran while he looks for a job. Velraj has matured as a filmmaker and adeptly delivers a simple entertainer though the last few minutes of the film shatter his already-earned respect from viewers.Tamizh, his wife Yamuna, and mother move into an uncomfortable home. Anirudh background score doesn't elevate the intrinsically staged romance scenes between the leads and works only functionally.
Visually, the film looks colorful with Kumaran's striking sense of aesthetics. She brings out the innocence of her character with a de-glam yet sensuous make-over. Instead, clock ticks and Thamizh moves on with his life and gets married to Yamuna, played by Samantha, who impresses with her expressions and lets her eyes speak for the first time in her career. The break-up is not handled with the regular hero-gets-addicted-to-drugs-and-rehabs approach. The maturity in Velraj's writing is appreciable, especially before and after the interval. The inconsistent make-up of Amy Jackson aside, there is not much to complain in the first half, which entertains and stirs, despite the predictable story-telling.
Sathish's one-liners leave the audience in splits. The love portions between Amy Jackson and Dhanush are quite reminiscent of '3' and few other teenage romance dramas in Tamil.
